About the method

Feldenkrais is a somatic learning method developed by Moshe Feldenkrais.
The Feldenkrais Method uses movement to deepen self awareness and improve ease and range of motion. This method is not only helpful for pain relief but also for reducing stress and learning new skills. Feldenkrais was particularly interested in how one can liberate oneself from unhelpful habits and become less inhibited not only in our movement but also in how we interact with our environment.

The work can be experienced in two ways: movement classes called Awareness Through Movement® and a hands-on approach called Functional Integration®.

Awareness Through Movement® is taught in a group setting where the students follow the verbal directions of the teacher. One is asked to pay attention to movement in a mindful way without self judgement, simply remaining present and curious. Feldenkrais developed over a thousand different Awareness Through Movement lessons.

Functional Integration® is an individual, private session. Usually a hands-on modality. The student is guided through gentle touch, movement and verbal cues.
